Truth or Lies~ What’s the Fair Price?

Updated: Dec 18, 2021

Don't pay the price for a lie your heart cannot handle

You may not get the outcome you want. What would you say if I told you the bible is a lie detector? Exposing the true intent or motive behind every act, deed, or gesture. It is imperative that we make sure we do not pay the price for a lie our heart cannot handle. By now, you know I like to use the transparency of my personal experiences to show spiritual truths that can help us with life lessons. There is a chilling story in the bible that shows the extent in which the human heart can go. 2 kings 8:8-15, talks about a king who became sick. He heard that the Prophet Elisha was in town, so he sent his servant with a gift to ask the Man of God whether he would live or die from his sickness. The bible says, the Prophet told the Servant that his Master would recover from the sickness, but he would still die. Of course, I was puzzled by this report, until the Prophet makes this statement to the servant, while weeping:

“Do you have a design in mind for your blog? Whether you prefer a trendy postcard look or you’re going for a more editorial style blog - there’s a stunning layout for everyone.”

“Elisha replied, “I know the terrible things you will do to the people of Israel. You will:

  1.  burn their fortified cities,

  2. kill their young men with the sword,

  3. dash their little children to the ground, and

  4. rip open their pregnant women!”

The Servant whose name was “Hazael said, “How could your servant, a mere dog, accomplish such a feat?” KJV

Stun Your Readers

Be original, show off your style, and tell your story.”

What a cold-hearted, gruesome, vicious, cruel act against humanity that could be compared to Hitler. The servant questioned whether he could ever do such a thing without being a dog? The answer was yes. The Servant went back to the King, told him he would recover, and the next morning the Servant placed a scolding hot towel over the King’s face and suffocated him. He later fulfilled the Prophet’s prophecy concerning Israel too.

Don’t pay the price for believing a lie. I wish I could allow you time to process that, but I have to continue. God knows every person’s heart. The King trusted his servant, and that trust led to his death. It’s very possible to find ourselves entangled with people that may not be good for us. That is why we must be careful about the friendships and relationships we seek after. Pay attention to the signs. Hear the truth and don’t pay the price for believing a lie.

I actually talk about being in a Wrong Luv relationship in my book entitled: Emotionally Unstable- Growing up without my Daddy. Once the excitement of being together slowly diminished, I was met with the psychological effects of unreasoning with him. Wrong Luv became irrational, difficult to talk to, and hard to predict. He was so egotistical, and I could sense it was a matter of time before I saw a side of him, I could not handle.

We argued almost every other day. We became toxic to each other, and my self-esteem broke every time he belittled me. I knew he was bad news, but told myself that God could change him. That was me, lying to me, to have what I wanted. I was in grave danger because I ignored the dreams God let me see.

You need truth to detect a lie. One night after we got off the phone, I fell asleep and dreamed that I was sitting in Church. My Auntie was seated a few feet away from me on the same pew, as a little boy in a midget body started walking down the row. He passed up my Auntie, and made his way straight to me. The little boy stopped where I was sitting, and gestured me to bend down, so he could tell me something. I leaned in closer, and before I knew it, he reached up and grabbed the hearted necklace I was wearing from around my neck. I grabbed the boy’s hands to gain control of the necklace. Suddenly, the little boy’s face changed to an old man's face. He looked like a baby demon. I was terrified. The more I fought the harder he pulled. I tried to get his hands from around my necklace, without breaking it, but he snatched and broke the hearted necklace off of me. I started to weep, as I looked to see where the necklace had broken. I knew if it broke on the link, I could fix it, but if it broke off the link the necklace was non-repairable. To my demise, it broke off the link.

I woke up knowing it was about the relationship I was in at the time. The dream was self-explanatory. Clearly, I was going to get my heart broken, the relationship would get snatched away, and never repaired. I tried hard not to let that happen, the whole time we were together, but I knew if that dream was from God, nothing could stop it from happening.

I finally got up the nerve to tell him about my dream, and he replied, "so what you saying, you think I'm gonna break your heart?" He was hurt and insulted. He made me think I was out of my wits end, by swearing he could never do something so unthinkable. Just like the Servant denied he could not do what he did. Not only did he get angry about the dream, he became indifferent. Something dark was working behind this relationship, but it took a long time to realize it was locked around a deeper pain.

“But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Hebrews 5:14 (NLT)

Bottom line, I believe God is calling us to train our senses, (sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste), so that we accurately discern between good and evil, and right and wrong. Don't ignore what you see, ask God whether it has meaning to your life. Connect, with truth writers, teachers, and leaders. It just might save your life.
